You are invited!

To a North End of Vashon Pizza Party (October 12, 2025)

Not quite the fires of Mount Doom, but hot enough for pizza!
Not as hot as Mt. Doom, but perfect for a pizza!

What to expect for timing, parking, food, drinks and music

1) Schedule: Meghan and I will be here all day, and you are welcome to stop by for as little or as much time as your kids, the weather, the ferry schedule, and your other commitments and invitations to better parties dictate!

  • 10AM: Second Breakfast (and Elevensies) with a  few breakfast pizzas and a few home-made fruit scones baked in the pizza oven, accompanied by (i) locally roasted coffee and (ii) cream from Venison Valley Dairy.
  • 12 Noon: Make your own Pizzas with some Lord of the Rings inspired suggested recipes, and some basic/classic toppings provided.  Please bring your own toppings for anything particular you think will work well. We will have a pizza assistant/concierge to help out! We encourage you to cut up pizzas to share, particularly ones that might appeal to those guests with more limited conventional palates and strong feelings πŸ˜‰.
  • 12:30 PM. Music from "Coop on the Loose". See below for details....
  • 1:00 Cocktails and Mocktails. We will have a bartender serving a few LOTR inspired cocktails (including Gimli's Golden Gimlet and the Tom Bombadill-adillo-collins) and mocktails (a holiday themed Miruvor, served warm, and an Ent Draught Tea?)
  • Sunset is at 6:27 PM and there is a Fauntleroy Ferry at 7:10PM (Note that we are, unfortunately, back on the 2-boat schedule!), so we will probably be winding up around this time for whomever is still here, or stay later for the lecture (see below...)

2) Parking/Access: It is severely limited at our house, and we are planning to keep our driveway completely clear for bicycles (weather permitting, the optimal choice), drop-offs, and mobility challenged guests.  There are some parking spots at the top of our driveway, but we are reserving a few for musicians and mobility-challenged guests as well, so we expect those will be exhausted quickly. There will be parking along the north side of Biloxi Road on the hill and towards the bottom and east side at the top of Biloxi (there will be signs!). Please respect signs and neighbor's access.   If you are walking onto the ferry, let me or Meghan know so we can help coordinate rides?  If it is raining, please expect some areas to be slippery (i.e. our deck, driveway, etc.)

3) Food and Drinks/What to Bring/Kids/Dogs

  • We will have basic pizza dough (from O Sole Mio); a few basic pizza bases (red sauce, pesto, olive oil/garlic); some seasonal/themed toppings; some basic toppings (sausage, onions, peppers, pepperoni, mozzarella). You should bring any other toppings you think should be included or that you love on pizzas.
  • We will have coffee, tea, sparkling water, juices, beer, wine, cider (in addition to the cocktails). No sodas - bring anything else you think is crucial!
  • We aim to have some gluten-free (or rather, free-ish) dough; write me, if you haven't already, and need gluten free dough!
  • There is no need to bring anything except your good spirits (and maybe patience, understanding, and a rain coat?) Hopefully no rain, and we will have some tents, but you know how it goes!
  • Bring your kids, even if not RSVP'ed, as the guest numbers in the RSVP were not for assigned tables and seating charts, but for rough quantities of food and drink. Dogs, unfortunately, are not included in our invite, as we understand the Moose has sent out his own (more limited) set of invites!

4) Music

  • Music from "Coop on the Loose", made possible by the Coop, 4Culture, and up-and-coming island musicians! More details on "Coop on the Loose" available at the party.
  • @12:30 - Neko; @1:30 - Kele; @2:30 - El
  • Irrespective of weather, all musicians will be inside and we will have seating inside, so during their sets and particularly if the weather is not "ideal", please be respectful of those listening to the short sets (but of course, it's not a library!)
  • You are welcome to bring your own instruments for a (potential) jam starting at 3:30 PM, although do not feel obligated and please note that access can be very tricky, so you may need to carry your instrument a fair distance (and/or leave it in your car for a while?).

5) Details on the Lecture (starting at 7:30 PM):

That's a joke, I am sure you realized almost immediately. There is no lecture!
